The claimants details have been changed but this is indeed a true case
Phil Mulryne acted for Mrs B following an accident which occurred at work.
Mrs B was serving food at a lunch and slipped on the floor, causing her to fall and sustain a fracture to her left foot.
Responsibility for the accident was denied by the defendant on the basis that there had been no spillage. Mrs B had support from witnesses to confirm that a spillage had occurred and it was inferred that this had not been cleaned up properly.
As responsibility for the accident was denied, court proceedings were commenced. The defendants continued to dispute Mrs B’s claim and made no offer of settlement until the matter was listed for a court hearing.
Prior to the hearing settlement proposals were put forward which were rejected and then increased proposals were put forward in the sum of £5,000 in settlement of the claim which was acceptable to Mrs B.
In addition to personal injury damages Mrs B pursued a claim for loss of earnings and also care and assistance provided to her by her husband during the period of her incapacity.
