Manpreet is based at our Leamington Spa office. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2008 after successfully completing her training with Amphlett Chatterton. Following her admittance to the roll, Manpreet remained with the firm specialising in both Matrimonial and Family matters and also Wills & Probate. She now primarily specialises in Wills, Probate and other Private Client work.
Manpreet regularly advises Clients with regard to inheritance planning issues, the preparation of Wills and LPA’s, administering estates and also has experience in advising clients with regard to contested matters such as querying the validity of a Will and mental capacity issues. Manpreet has been involved with making applications for Deputyship and preparing Deeds of Variation and Trusts. Manpreet frequently advises clients with regard to life interests in property and protecting assets, particularly in circumstances where clients have remarried and have children from previous relationships.
Manpreet has also undertaken a significant amount of work for cohabitees from the preparation of cohabitation agreements to trust of land applications. She is keen on undertaking Court work and is known for taking on challenging matters. For example, she has recently successfully brought a claim for an interest in a property by a party who was not named as a legal owner and where little financial contribution was made by the claiming party.
Manpreet has also dealt with unusual cases, for example an application for special guardianship orders in respect of an adopted child residing in a foreign jurisdiction as well as an application for the removal of an executor from an estate. Manpreet has also been involved in obtaining Grants in foreign jurisdictions including the Isle of Man and Ireland. She has also prepared discretionary trust wills for the protection of animals.
Manpreet has also represented clients at Court in family matters, including financial disputes and children act matters. Her knowledge of both Wills & Probate and Family has enabled her to secure favourable settlements in financial claims where parties are due to receive inheritance and she has also gained extensive experience in cases involving complex issues such as business assets, assets abroad, insolvency proceedings, immigration and human rights issues including right to family life and deprivation of liberties safeguards.
Manpreet has regularly prepared petitions for divorce and judicial separation and she has also brought applications for children act orders including residence, contact, specific issue and prohibited steps. Manpreet has taken on a number of emergency matters, both in relation to children act matters and domestic violence. She has brought successful applications for non-molestation and occupation orders and has assisted in defending a child abduction application.
