Barrington Atkins acted for an East Midlands based client on a no win no fee basis who sustained injuries as a result of a road traffic collision.
The accident happened when our client was travelling in a taxi. Our client was sitting at the back of the taxi, facing forward, but before they managed to put on their seatbelt the taxi driver set off. After driving only a short distance the taxi driver performed an emergency stop. Our client was thrown forwards out of their seat and they struck their face against the plastic partition separating the driver’s compartment. Our client suffered cuts and swelling to their nose, bruising to their chest, and pain to their neck and shoulder.
Liability was never admitted by the taxi driver who blamed our client for their own injuries. However, upon obtaining medical evidence which described ongoing neck and shoulder symptoms, and negotiating with the taxi driver’s insurers, we received an early offer of settlement for £1,200. In spite of this low initial offer, Barrington used his negotiation skills to settle the claim for about £3,200, just 10 months after our client instructed Ward & Rider solicitors.
Our client’s name has been withheld to respect their privacy but this is indeed a true case.
