Jodie Doran, a Solicitor at Ward & Rider Solicitors, acted for Miss T who was injured on a bus.
Miss T was getting a bus to go into the local town centre. She got onto the bus and showed her bus pass, but without warning, the bus driver pulled away from the bus stop before Miss T had the opportunity to sit down. Miss T was knocked from her feet and fell to the floor.
Miss T sustained substantial injuries as a consequence of her fall. She fractured her pelvis in two places and had bruising to her right side. Her injuries meant that once discharged from hospital, she had to spend some weeks in a rehabilitation facility undergoing physiotherapy.
A personal injury claim was put to the bus company and unfortunately it took some time before the bus company acknowledged Miss T’s claim. They never formally admitted responsibility for Miss T’s accident but Ward & Rider were able to secure compensation for Miss T in the sum of £18,000. This figure took into account the injuries that were sustained as well as travelling expenses incurred as a consequence of pursuing the claim and assistance that was required from family and friends in doing housework and shopping.
