Personal Injury Settlement for Accident at Work
Jodie Doran, Personal Injury Lawyer at Ward and Rider Solicitors acted for Mr B* on a no win no fee basis. Mr B was employed by a gardening company for a number of years. On the day of his accident, he attended the depot first thing in the morning as he usually did to collect and prepare his tools for the day ahead. Mr B had sharpened the lawn mower blade using a machine and was putting the blade back on to the lawn mower. As he was doing this, the blade slipped from the machine and fell on to his hand. Mr B was in immediate pain as the blade had caused a deep laceration into his middle and ring fingers.
Mr B attended Hospital and he required stitches to both fingers. Mr B fortunately made an almost complete recovery from his injuries, although he was left with some numbness and cold sensitivity in a very small area of each finger.
A personal injury claim was pursued against Mr B's employers and they admitted liability for his accident immediately. Mr B’s employers failed to provide him with protective equipment such as thick protective gloves and they also failed to train him in the proper way to use the machinery.
A medical report was obtained and Mr B's financial losses were put to his employers insurance company. Mr B received £3,000.00 in full and final settlement of his claim.
*Mr B's name has been changed to respect his privacy but this is indeed a true case.
