£7,500 compensation for trip in supermarket

Anita Kaur acted for a client from Warwickshire on a no win, no fee basis.

Our client was on a shopping trip to her local supermarket when she slipped on a spillage. As a result, our client sustained a personal injury to her neck and shoulder. Unfortunately, our client also sustained psychological symptoms.

Responsibility for the accident was never accepted by the supermarket in question, which is often the case. Court Proceedings were therefore started against the supermarket. We are not afraid of going the extra mile to protect our client's interests.

Settlement was agreed in the region of £7,500, including damages for personal injury, medication costs, repayable sick pay, travel expenses and care.

Claims for repayable sick pay can be complex and we pride ourselves on giving the best possible advice in this regard. On this occasion, our client was paid by her employer whilst on sick leave because of her injuries. In the event of a successful claim our client was contractually obliged to repay this sick pay to her employer. We sorted all this out for our client to ensure that they were not left out of pocket.

Our client's name has been withheld to respect their privacy but this is indeed a true case.
